Katie and Michael had a breathtaking adventure elopement in Austin…at Christmas time! This wedding is so much fun, and I’ll admit I was also little nervous on the day of the wedding. Katie mentioned to me that we’d meet in advance because the spot they have in mind is “a little bit of a hike”. Ok, sounds like a good time, I’m in for this! I come out with my gear and decide to wear jeans (a good move) due to unknown terrain. When she said a hike my mind went to distance, not climbing. Note to self: invest in shoes with a good grip on the bottom. Those ballet flats were no use on this trail or on the skinny rocky ledges we traversed to get to the ceremony area.

Our party is a grand total of four people. Bride, check. Groom, check. Officiate/friend and photographer, check. The afternoon started with some gift giving. The bride made a fantastic embroidered gift for her officiate friend with a colorful word choice that I’m leaving out for now (it was hilarious and definitely an inside joke). I love personalized and handmade gifts! Let’s not overlook the bacon and egg card though. It might not have been handmade by the couple, but it was pretty stinking cute.

After changing out of sneakers for the climb into some sassy red high heels we started the big moment. The ceremony is a funny and loving tribute to an amazing couple. I’m thrilled I could be present and document this intimate wedding and then get to take these two out to 360 to really Christmas it up with some fun photos on the hill!
