Sara and Josh have a beautiful sunset for their Pedernales Falls engagement session. But it was almost not to be! We originally tossed around a lot of ideas, and because it was my birthday weekend and fairly hot we decide to go ahead with a sunset session at a local park. Ok, good. The park is lovely, and I know we could have a great time together there. The more I got to thinking about these two, the stories they tell me over email, and knowing they were engaged on a hike, the park didn’t seem like the best fit. I know in my heart I can do better for them. An adventurous engagement session in their element seems like the perfect idea! I admit I’ve also had Pedernales Falls on my engagement session wish list for a while now. Hello, stars aligning!

There’s nothing quite as magical as the first time at a location. I’ve often thought after finishing a fantastic book or an exciting movie that I’d like to be able to erase it from my memory so I can experience the first time all over again. Falling in love, the creativity. This “first” makes my heart soar, we had an amazing day!

Sara and Josh, thank you for taking me along for the ride on your Pedernales Falls engagement session!

You make me so thankful for my job. Thank YOU for being an audacious couple that goes wherever the wind takes you! And thank you for so happily agreeing to get into the water and then taking it all in good humor when the slippery rocks swept you off your feet! I need a whole post with the slipping and sliding images because they make me smile so big my cheeks hurt! All I remember is you being so accommodating and me snap snapping away while saying, “I’m sorry, Sara! Thank you! I’m sorry, I love it!”

What a lovely couple! I absolutely love that you shared their story of falling in love while on a hike. Pedernales is just 100% them, then! I absolutely love the images where you used the reflection. So much color and feeling! Beautiful images. Thanks for sharing!

These are beautiful! I am so glad that you changed the location for them so it fit their personalities and their love story! This has to have been a wonderful birthday present as well, to cross off a bucket list location! I love that she even took her shoes off for some of the pictures! So pretty, and you can totally see they are in their element!

Such a sweet and thoughtful comment, Kayla, thank you!

I was going to say the same thing — those reflective shots are awesome. My favorite is the last one though. The colors are beautiful.

Thank you, Amanda! I love hearing someone else’s favorite!

Gotta love a great, adventurous couple in love! Beautiful photos!

These are gorgeous! I’ve been wanting to make a trip out to Pedernales to shoot!

Do it, Erin! It’s lovely! Although it’s gotta be a beast for sunset in the summer because even in early May we were super sweaty. It’s a lot of walking and climbing. But obviously worth it 🙂

These are gorgeous. Those reflection shots
