Maddie and Matthew’s Pecan Springs Ranch winter wedding is going down as one of my favorites! You will remember Maddie from her bridal session I posted here.
The couple decided on a February wedding (just like me!), and in Texas that’s a bit of a gamble. Their luck paid out, and the wedding day gave us blue skies, sunshine, and a ton of great memories. Everything was perfect from her sister skillfully applying make up to her running across the lawn to bring us flowers for the first look. (Seriously, watch her run in her fancy clothes, she’s on top of it!)
M and M decided on a first look, and I’m so glad they did! The sunshine is stunning for Texas winters, but that sunset does come early. We had a lot of photographs to take, and we manage to have plenty of time for them all in the glorious light. While we’re chatting about first looks, I am often asked if I recommend them. It’s not as simple as “yes” or “no”. I recommend a first look for one of two reasons.
The first reason I recommend it is when the couple, as in this instance, needs it for logistical reasons. When you fall in love with images on my page, 99% chance is that you fell in love with daytime images. Even more likely to be glorious sunset images. If your ceremony is so late in the day that it will not allow for all of your portraits to be taken afterward before it falls dark then I will chat with you about a first look.
The second reason I recommend it is when the couple expresses that they fear forgetting to focus on their beloved on that much watched walk up the aisle or that one partner is leery of expressing a lot of emotion in front of so many people. In this situation it’s nice for the couple to have this first look privately. All tears and smiles can flow freely when you choose your secret nook to have this moment. Occasionally couples will also allow their wedding party or parents to be present. It’s all completely up to you! My recommendations are there to help you achieve what YOU WANT.
Congratulations to Maddie and Matthew on a beautiful Pecan Springs Ranch winter wedding day!
