Your favorite Austin family photographer is back, baby!
I know that I haven’t blogged in a long time. Saying “a long time” feels vague so let’s take a real look. I haven’t blogged in almost six years! It was 2019 the last time I sat down to write, and with every month and year that passes it feels like it’s too hard to pick up the torch again. I vacillate between telling you all the reasons why it has taken me so long to get back here. There’s a balance to strike between sharing what’s going on with me since I’m your artist, your creator, the documenter of your memories. If you follow along on Instagram then you already know how much has changed during these years.
First off, I’m happy you’re here! You’ve seen me through hard times, watched me fall in love with an amazing man, and now we’re married with a baby! While it’s strange in some ways to go through the bad parts while photographing your happy times, it always has been and always will be special to me to see your big moments! No matter what goes on with me, I 100% enjoy seeing you get married, have babies, and live life! The amount of clients that have turned into friends is a continuous source of joy. You have all become my people. We’re going through so many life stages right alongside one another.
Second, if you’ve been following along, you know that the beautiful parts have been overwhelming anything else that’s happened. My big kids are absolutely thriving! I have a high schooler (omg) and one finishing up elementary school. Watching them grow up is so fun to witness. I will miss their little kid stages, and I’m cherishing each new milestone. And of course, there are pictures. During this time I picked up a medium format camera that I fell in love with. Here I sit, sharing pictures from that camera with you while I’m posted up at our rental house since our real house flooded in October (see, ups and downs).
Lastly, the pictures of baby boy are with my regular awesome camera, and they’re still great. I get excited for fun new cameras and the options I get, but the most important tool is the one you’re willing to use. Document your family on the regular! And when you want to be in them and make extra beautiful pieces for your home, call your favorite Austin family photographer (meeeeeee)!
