We had fun with this Dallas engagement session! I love shooting in Austin, this is my city, but it’s also fun to get out of town. When Madeline and Andrew asked me if I would drive up to Dallas for the session, I said yes. When she asked me the night before if I could stay and do some photos at night, I said heck yes!
Remember when I told you I have a lot of cousins? (No? Feel free to check out the About Amanda page!) Madeline is one of my many cousins. I imagine from talking to lots of my engaged cousins over the years that the internal battle goes something like this when choosing a photographer: “hey, we should ask Amanda to do it, I love her work!” “but, hmmm, if she’s working then she can’t get down on the dance floor, and she has some sweet moves” <– ok, that might be an exaggeration. The internal struggle happens for me, too. In the end, I’m happy to play either part. I love being a photographer, especially a wedding photographer. The once in a lifetime moments, big love, touching speeches, happy reunions, awesome dance moves (by guests – not me!), all make weddings perfect for me!
I haven’t spent a lot of time with Andrew before this evening, mostly seeing him in brief encounters at big family functions. It was wonderful to see these two together in quiet moments, to watch them lovingly hold hands, the way they look at each other. I can’t imagine a more perfect match for Madeline, and I know Andrew feels lucky to have her because he says so all the time, never misses an opportunity to cherish her. (And Andrew makes fantastic coffee, basically, we like Andrew. A lot.)
Their wedding is going to be spectacular! (Oh, and we get to have a fun bridal session in Austin before the wedding – so much to come!)
