A little preview, ok a big preview, of our time in Banff. This fantastic couple not only flew me to Canada, but they also trekked their wedding clothes all the way there, shared the same town as me for their honeymoon (although we were careful not to meet up too much!), and generally froze their Texas butts off for once in a lifetime photos! Scouting for this session was more fun than I could have imagined. With the help of an amazing local photographer, Brittany Staddon, we checked out Lake Minnewanka and Lake Louise. Both were superb, and I’m pretty sure I could stay there forever and be happy (I love you Texas, but it’s like being on a postcard in Banff; even the Starbucks has killer mountain views!).
Lake Louise ended up being our location of choice. It was the second time that week I was able to walk out onto a frozen lake to take memorable photographs. Well, the first time was only memorable for me. I’m pretty sure the elk didn’t give a hoot (or whatever an elk might give). This second go round exceeded all the expectations I built up in my head. Kudos to the couple for making this happen for themselves, no matter how crazy some people thought they were. And to the groom, you might have been the happiest freezing cold guy I’ve ever seen, Tyler!
Huge thank you to everyone that helped bring this to life. I have never even seen snow outside of the flurries we get in Austin, and to be able to photograph two people very much in love in this winter wonderland was a dream!
