Joy is having a baby!
I am ecstatic to be able to type those words! When I got the text I was thrilled and ran into the other room to tell my husband the good news. We smiled ear to ear, and then I giggled a little thinking about how I’ve never ACTUALLY met this person I am so ecstatically happy for right now. Somewhere along the way a Joy the Baker maternity session plan unfolded. Calling anything I make a “plan” is a little generous. I thrive on a general plan with lots of room for spontaneity. A few things I know are certain for this trip: there will be fun, there will be Mardi Gras decorations on a beautiful old Texas home, and there will be cinnamon rolls! And obviously, there will be TRON.

Joy the Baker Maternity
“Don’t talk to strangers on the internet!” We are all told this growing up. I’m a Millenial, and we are primed as teens to not talk to strangers at all, especially on the internet. But we all know social media entered the chat, and now some of my sweetest friendships have started digitally! Meeting Joy in person is everything you imagine because she is genuinely being herself when she appears online. She is warm, welcoming, funny, supportive, and empathetic. Neither of us showed up empty handed, and our gift giving language is very “us”! She sent me with a heaping helping of cinnamon roll for the road plus a whole tin ready to bake up at home for my kiddos. I gave her a few items that every little Texas baby needs, including boots.
The next time you’re ready to bake up delicious treats on a holiday or just a Wednesday, head on over to Joy the Baker website and get lost in yummy recipes! There are plenty of sweets, but don’t sleep on those savory recipes, too! And read her own words about her pregnancy journey on her blog.
